I absolutely love seeing homeschool spaces and the organization of curriculum. I’m in several homeschool groups and when I see a call out for people to share their school rooms and organization hacks I run to the comments. It is so fun seeing how school rooms reflects the interests and needs of each family.
So many homeschool spaces look like they are straight out of Pinterest and they are absolutely amazing. However, I wanted to share mine because I feel like it is a bit more… attainable, haha. Our house isn’t huge, and so utilizing all the spaces has been a must. Our schoolroom is also our children’s play room, and it’s forced me to be more thoughtful and discerning as to whether an item improves the room’s functioning.
I spend a lot of time in that room, and so there were a few things I wanted it to be: welcoming, helpful, organized, cozy, and filled with books.
Anyways, I thought I’d share our school room and give a little background on how I have it set up to meet our needs:

Literature is the foundation of my son’s school, so a comfy couch for reading was a must. I got it for $50 off FBMP. I have two shelves above it where I put books related to what we are currently studying, as well as any new books I’ve gotten that I want him to notice.
I have a puff quilt, pillow, and a blanket tucked into the corner next to the couch as a cozy nook for curling up with with a book. My kids love it.
The tile in this room can get cold, so I put in a rug. I have a small table and two chairs for doing bookwork. I love that it converts into a sensory bin table.
I have a basket on the bookshelf where his daily schoolwork goes. I have a lot of curricula, but if we aren’t using it in the near future - I keep it in our hallway cabinet (where I also keep art supplies).
I have a foam playmat and their toys in a cube organizer. I’ve seen a lot of homeschool rooms where there aren’t any toys in the room and I truly don’t know how they do it. Having toys in the same room enables me to quickly set something up for my two younger children when I’m working on school with my eldest.
I have our toy bins labeled with pictures of what toys go in them. This has helped tremendously with my kids putting away their own toys.
Books, books, and more books! I have books organized by hardback, paperback, chapter books, and nonfiction books.
Welp, that’s where the schooling happens!
If you have shared your homeschooling room, let me know! I’d love to see it!
Wishing you a cozy reading nook somewhere in your home, as well as good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. xx
I love all the books and how sunny the space is! Thanks for sharing what your space is like. I homeschool in a two-bedroom apartment and have had to be creative. Your post has inspired me to write one about my homeschool setup, too.
The natural light is so nice!
